Jobie Hill on When Walls Talk: Hidden and Forgotten Stories of Enslaved People
About this lecture: A slave house is like every other American home – a sacred place. It is also an irreplaceable piece of history that simultaneously embodies suffering, perseverance and strong family bonds. Slave houses are as complex as the people inside, and that is why they are perfect for telling the stories of enslaved people. These stories, told in part by the slave houses they inhabited, have the capacity to facilitate our nation’s efforts to collectively move forward from the legacy of slavery.
A light reception follows and is included for all guests.
