Are you a taphophile – someone who likes exploring cemeteries?
Please join Pam Gabriel, author of “In Good Company: A History of St. Lawrence Cemetery”, on a guided tour of this cemetery's history, families rich & poor and its classical design.
St. Lawrence was part of the rural cemetery concept as urban church burial grounds became overcrowded. It was founded by the Charleston Catholic Diocese in 1854 and contains many Victorian monuments. It is the final resting place of some of Charleston’s famous and infamous residents.
A copy of Pam’s book will be raffled off for free. The tour will be approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes but visitors are welcome to explore on the own.
