Join your fellow IAH members on a guided tour of the International African-American Museum and Garden. This is a tour both for first-timers and for those who have already been to learn more about its history.
The building hovers 13 feet above the historic site of Gadsden’s Wharf, the port of arrival for nearly half of all enslaved Africans brought to North America.
Together with the building, the landscape honors the hallowed ground of Gadsden’s Wharf and the legacy of those who disembarked there. The African Ancestors Memorial Garden is at once a gathering place, a destination of its own, and respite for museum guests before or after their visit.
Hourly parking is available in the City of Charleston parking garage near the aquarium. Metered parking is located along Washington Street and Concord Street.
