Christopher Teves will treat us to a traditional classical repertoire including the Bach Fugue form BWV1001 and Fernando Sor’s Introduction and Variations on a Theme by Mozart along with some pieces from the Spanish and Latin repertoire. He’ll play Spanish pieces by Francisco Tarrega- Recuerdos de Alhambra and Isaac Albeniz- Asturias as well as Latin works by Heitor Villa Lobos and Augustin Barrios. He will also plan to include his own composition Maria Cristina, inspired by a return trip to the Philippines, where he lived until he was 9.

Christopher Teves is a guitarist, composer, and arranger currently performing with the Avanti Guitar Trio (AG3). Recent concerts include the Cincinnati and Columbus Guitar Societies, the Northern Illinois International Guitar Series, and a live broadcast on WFMT Chicago. He has appeared as a soloist and recitalist throughout the United States with orchestras such as the Moravian Philharmonic (Czech Republic), Welsh Hills Symphony, and Southcoast Symphony.

Teves’s compositions and arrangements have been performed by the North Charleston Pops, Chamber Music Charleston, The Eclipse Ensemble, CSU Chamber Winds and Guitar Ensemble, and the Avanti Guitar Trio. His newest album, recorded and released with AG3, features his original compositions and arrangements for the ensemble. He has also released The Water Is Wide (with flutist Tacy Edwards), Hauntings (with the Moravian Philharmonic), and his solo album Guitar America.

Teves teaches guitar at Charleston Southern University, is on the faculty of the Charleston Academy of Music, and maintains a private studio at Clelia’s Guitar.
