The Aiken Rhett House is a house museum owned by the Historic Charleston Foundation (HCF). In recent years, HCF has conducted major archaeological research on the property, which yielded thousands of artifacts. The original kitchen and laundry was excavated and is now open to view. We will be on a docent-lead tour.
The Aiken Rhett property is an urban, walled compound, which includes original slave quarters and outbuildings, such as privies. The slave quarters are considered to be the best example of urban slave quarters in Charleston. We
After the tour, we have a reservation for lunch at Henrietta's at the Dewberry Hotel, 334 Meeting Street.
